Authors, it is time to sharpen your pencils, or get on your keyboard, as the La Branche culturelle in Brownsburg-Chatham is collaborating once again with the Musée Régional d’Argenteuil for the short-fiction writing competition ‘Raconte-moi ton Musée – Stories of the Museum’.

Members of the public are invited to participate to the 2022 edition of the contest by choosing an artifact from the rich collection of the Musée Régional d’Argenteuil. By submitting a text, the authors will bring to life the artifacts and help promote the treasures of the Argenteuil region. The artifact list is available on the La Branche culturelle website.

The genre and style are up to the authors’ preference, be it historical, science fiction, mystery or any other, as long as it is fictional and the artifact plays a major role. The contest is open to writers of all ages, from anywhere. The stories may be submitted in English or French.

A printed edition, including the stories of the three finalists in each language, will be published and sold, with profits shared by the Argenteuil Regional Museum and La Branche culturelle. Texts must be submitted by email by January 30, 2022, at midnight to [email protected].

The finalists will be announced on February 28, 2022. Prizes in money, works of art and books will be remitted during the Café Canopée of March 6, 2022, at l’Espace culturel Saint-Gilles, situated on 562 Outaouais Road in Brownsburg-Chatham.
