Dalkeith Plus is celebrating its fifth anniversary in November, as the volunteer group continues its work in the community, while beginning its annual membership drive.
As part of the celebrations, on November 27, Dalkeith Plus plans to exhibit handmade/fait-main creations by members and friends. The various creations will be on display at the library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, with some of the items being offered for sale – just in time for Christmas.
For the past five years, thanks to a small group of volunteers, Dalkeith Plus has successfully kept the library in Dalkeith alive and thriving. The building, located at 1835 Country Road 23 in the community, has a large collection of books, films, and audio tapes to loan out to its, at present, 146 members.
In the front room, several tables are available for Thursday night card players and for the Friday afternoon ‘Loose Art’. In the back room, children can read and play in their own special nook. Local art is on display all year around and Wi-Fi is available to members.
Every year Dalkeith Plus chooses a different theme for its well liked ‘Touch a…’ series of events. In 2021, it held ‘Touch a Local Business’ and in 2022, it will be ‘Touch a Hobby’. Dates for upcoming events to be announced.
The group is very thankful to the Township of North Glengarry for its financial support over the last 5 years. It also appreciates the support of the community, as well as that from all its members.
November is renewal season for existing members and new members are always welcome. For more details, please visit the Dalkeith Plus Facebook page, or write to Brenda Noble, the volunteer manager of Dalkeith Plus, at [email protected] .
The library is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, with more hours to come once COVID calms down. All those who are double vaccinated are invited to come in and celebrate the fifth anniversary.
