Hawkesbury OPP update for first half of October

The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with the following occurrences that lead to individuals being charged between October 1 and 15, 2021.

On October 1, at 2:15 p.m., a 57-year-old man from Champlain Township was charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance under the CDSA section 4(1), Drive while under suspension, Drive with Handheld communication device and have care and control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available. This follows a July occurrence where the same man was charged with impaired driving and stunt driving. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on November 3.

On October 2, at 02:30 a.m., OPP conducted a traffic stop and the result was that a 31-year-old male from Alfred-Plantagenet was charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance and possession of a schedule 2 substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on November 3.

On July 5, 2021, a 38-year-old male, from Hawkesbury, was arrested and charged for theft from a Grocery Store on Cameron Street in Hawkesbury. On October 4, at 1:10 p.m. the same man was charged with Fail to comply with an undertaking, by returning to the same grocery store. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on October 27.

On October 4, the same male was charged with Fail to comply with Probation order by attending a grocery store on Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on October 27. On October 13, while at a liquor store on County Road 17 in Hawkesbury, the same man was arrested and charged with fie counts of theft under 5000 – shoplifting and 5 counts of Fail to comply with probation. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on November.

On October 5, a 52-year-old man from Alfred-Plantagenet was charged with breach of Recognizance CC 811, foer not complying with. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on October 21.

On October 6, at 4:22 p.m., a 39-year-old female from Champlain Township, was charged with theft under 5000 under the Criminal Code of Canada, section 334(b), when an item was stolen from the porch of a residence on Thorne Street in Hawkesbury. Her next court appearance in L’Orignal is on December 1.

On October 7 2021, a 23-year-old man, from Hawkesbury, was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by crime – over $5,000 CC 320.1 8(1)(a), when found on Main Street in the Town of Hawkesbury in a stolen vehicle. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on October 18.

On October 13, at 7 p.m., a 64-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with 2 counts of Operation of vehicle while impaired, Operate vehicle while prohibited, 2 counts of drive while under suspension, Operate vehicle without insurance. The man was intercepted on a scooter on Main Street in Hawkesbury. His next court appearance in L’Orignal is on November 24.
