On October 14, the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) bestowed a ‘Young at Heart’ award to Mr. Everett Arthurs, of Champlain Township, for being young at heart by showing that having fun is an important part of life.
“At 86 years old, Mr. Arthurs has a lot of life experience and clearly knows how to have fun,” said the Hawkesbury detachment in a press release.
Mr. Arthurs submitted the name ‘Buckshot’ for the Hawkesbury OPP mascot, now known as ‘Rosie’. While he may not have won the naming contest, the detachment recognized the genuine effort made by Mr. Arthurs and wished to highlight the inspirational way he showed life should be lived—with laughter and fun.
“We can learn a lot from Mr. Arthurs and strive to have a bit of fun during these difficult times,” the detachment’s press release noted.
