Cheri’s PKD Posse has struck again, bringing in more than $4,500 from the group’s September 26 walk through Vankleek Hill to raise funds towards fighting Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).

The walk in support of Cheri Barton – who was diagnosed with PKD 30 years ago – attracted more than 40 supporters, who walked through the village in their Posse t-shirts. As of Monday, October 4, the Cheri’s PKD Posse fundraising page on the PKD Foundation of Canada’s website, had raised a total of $4,550. Donations can still be made through the following link.

“We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our family and friends who came out and walked with us for the Virtual Walk to End PKD,” said Cheri’s daughter Laura Barton, who organized the walk through Vankleek Hill. “Thank you to Emily MacDuff McCaig from Tartan Lane Apparel for making the amazing team shirts.”

“My mom was extremely surprised by the amazing turn out and the shirts! She is extremely grateful for everyone’s continuous support.”

The September 26 walk is held annually across the country by the PKD Foundation of Canada to raise funds for PKD research. Cheri Barton has personally raised more than $200,000 towards PKD research since she first took part in the Toronto PKD walk in 2005. Over the years Cheri has actively spread awareness of the disease and has been a guest speaker at various conferences and events.
