Between January 1 and September 27, 2021, officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reacted to traffic calls for service or their attention was drawn to citizen’s driving habits, and as a result fines and/or charges were laid.

This is an estimated breakdown of the charges:

Impaired Driving Criminal Code (Alcohol/Drugs) – 43 charges laid

And out of 1616 fines issued, there were also 870 warnings issued, the following are some of the offences:

Stunt Driving – 56 fines issued

Distracted Driving – 55 fines issued

Speeding – 971 fines issued

Fail to stop for stop sign – 166 fines issued

With the inclement weather soon upon us, the OPP are asking people to plan ahead, give yourself additional time to get to your destination.  Arrive safe.
