On Saturday July 24, 2021, at 1:20 p.m. officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in Hawkesbury.

Witnesses attended the OPP detachment and reported that an individual had engaged in inappropriate messaging over a popular social media platform. After an investigation, police arrested and charged Michel Lalonde, 35 years old, of Hawkesbury, under the criminal code with:

  • Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication, section 172.1(1)(a)
  • Make sexually explicit material available to a person under 18 years of age, section 171.1(1)(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday August 25, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice in l’Orignal.
