Work is continuing on the reconstruction of Stephens Street and St. Denis Street in Vankleek Hill and motorists heading to that area should be prepared for major disruptions.

The project includes full depth reconstruction of both streets and concrete curbs; localized repairs to the existing storm sewers, sanitary sewers and laterals; replacement of existing storm catch basins and sanitary maintenance holes; replacement of existing watermain valves and services. The size of the project has caused both streets to be closed to all but local traffic since the spring.

Construction, which began in May,  is expected to continue into October. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, as there is significant disruption to traffic on the two streets.

The work is being done by Cornwall Gravel Company Ltd. EVB Engineering is representing Champlain Township throughout the project.
