Officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to intervene in the following matters:
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
On Tuesday, June 22, at 8 p.m., police were called by a neighbour to intervene in a domestic assault taking place in Wendover, between a 30-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, who have been together, on and off for about two years. They have a one-year-old child together.
The argument started outside and then the male took the child inside. The woman went in, and that is when the neighbour saw the man punching and kicking the woman.
Police arrived and promptly arrested the man.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
On June 23, at 8 p.m., police were called to an assault in progress. A man and women were at an outside social gathering in the Town of Hawkesbury, when the man’s ex-wife arrived in her vehicle and started yelling insulting comments towards the man and the woman, suggesting that he was being unfaithful with the woman.
The ex-wife would have hit the woman with her cellphone and continued to assault the woman until the man separated them, then the ex-wife assaulted the man. The ex-wife then left, but was arrested later by police.
ASSAULT
On June 24, police were called to an assault that took place at a group home in the Town of Hawkesbury. The group home employee and victim, told police that the accused got into a verbal fight with another resident. When the employee saw them arguing, they got between them in order to avoid further altercation.
When the accused noticed that the employee was trying to separate them, the accused punched the employee in the face, causing an injury. The accused was arrested promptly by police.
ATTEMPT THEFT OF VEHICLES
On June 24, at 12:30 p.m. police were called to attend the Voyageur Provincial Park in East Hawkesbury Township. The person reported vehicle theft attempts.
They reported seeing male parties wearing waist pouches with what appeared to be tools, trying to enter vehicles at the parking lot of the park’s beach. The person reporting this confirmed that their vehicle lock had been damaged. Also it was reported that purses had been stolen from the beach area. No persons located, investigation ongoing.
