Boating Safety Week in Québec was from June 16 to 22 and police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) used the week as an opportunity to intensify their interventions on waterways.

Marine patrollers worked in close collaboration with their partners to make boaters aware of the importance of adopting safe behaviour. During the summer season, it is important to remind boaters of the laws and regulations to prevent collisions with serious injuries, or fatalities.

During the week, SQ officers intercepted more than 470 boats. In addition to making 12 impaired boating arrests, SQ marine patrols issued more than 30 offences.
