Due to weather conditions, a lack of precipitation, and an increase in water consumption resulting from watering lawns and filling swimming pools, the town of Brownsburg-Chatham is prohibiting all outdoor watering until further notice.

It is prohibited to:

  • Water lawns
  • Wash vehicles
  • Wash driveways and sidewalks
  • Wash the exterior of buildings
  • Fill a swimming pool

However, this ban does not affect the manual watering of flower beds and vegetable gardens. This is allowed by using only a manual watering can or a hose. Sprinklers and soaker hoses are prohibited.

The town asks residents to use drinking water only for essential purposes and for human consumption. Patrols will be carried out in the streets of the town over the next few days. Fines could also be issued to residents not complying with the ban.
