COVID-19 virtual town hall April 28 for business owners in SDG

Ontario Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries Lisa MacLeod and MPP Jim McDonell will be part of a virtual town hall on April 28, to address questions from local business owners and entrepreneurs looking to navigate the COVID-19 landscape.

The virtual event will take place on Wednesday, April 28, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Panelists also include the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre’s Candy Pollard, Cornwall and the Counties Community Future’s Development Corporation Lesley Thompson, along with SDG Economic Development and Tourism Manager Tara Kirkpatrick.

“We recognize the difficult situation that our businesses are in right now as they navigate the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown measures enacted to protect the health of our population,” said Kirkpatrick. “We hope that this forum will help clarify some of the programs and supports available to our businesses and to highlight the different agencies available to help them.”

“The Ontario government recognized early in the pandemic that businesses will require innovative and ongoing support from the province if they are to survive. This is why we continue to reach out proactively so that business owners can get the answers they need for them to continue their operations now and into the future,” said MPP McDonell.

“Our sectors have been hit first, the hardest, and will take the longest to recover,” said Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. “I’m excited to be taking part in this important event, which will continue to support our operators as they navigate these unprecedented times and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
