There were 25 active cases of COVID-19 among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil as of Tuesday, March 23, which was an increase of two cases from Monday, March 22, according to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 across Argenteuil had increased to 22 as of Tuesday from at 21 as of Monday.

There was a total of 304 active cases of COVID-19 across the Laurentides region of Québec as of March 23.

Vaccination information

The CISSS des Laurentides reported that 54,414 COVID-19 vaccine doses been administered across its territory as of Tuesday.

On March 22, the CISSS des Laurentides announced that the first-round vaccination against COVID-19 for people who could not leave their homes was successfully completed across its jurisdiction in just four days. Vulnerable people aged 60 and over who are unable to travel to a vaccination site due to their condition, as well as those aged 60 and under with significant loss of mobility were able to receive a first dose of the vaccine at home.

As a result of the home vaccination effort, 722 vulnerable people unable to travel to a vaccination site and 368 significant caregivers were vaccinated, meaning a total of 1,090 doses were administered.

All other Québec residents aged 60 (born in 1961 or before) and greater are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.  Vaccinations MUST be made by appointment and can be scheduled by going to QUÉBEC.CA/VACCINCOVID or by calling 1-866-495-5833.

Cases in schools and long-term care facilities

According to the Québec government, there were active cases of COVID-19 as of March 23 at the following schools in MRC d’Argenteuil communities:

École Bouchard in Brownsburg

École St-Alexandre in Lachute

École St-Julien in Lachute

Laurentian Elementary School in Lachute

As of Tuesday, there were no active cases of COVID-19 at long-term care or retirement residences in the MRC d’Argenteuil.

Québec statistics

According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), there were 6,742 active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of Tuesday, March 23, which was an increase of 656 cases from March 22.

There were 519 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of Tuesday, and 113 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 10,618 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of March 23, which was an increase of 4 deaths from March 4.

Across Québec, 993,102 people had been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday.


Under Québec’s regional system of COVID-19 emergency measures, the MRC d’Argenteuil, and the entire Laurentides region, is a red zone.

The curfew between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., the ban on gatherings in private homes and on private land, and compulsory working from home remain in effect.
