The school break for students in Québec is here, and in response to government directives issued to counter the spread of COVID-19, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is adapting its intervention plans from February 26 to March 7.

The SQ has the mandate to assist the Ministry of Health and Social Services in the application of the Public Health Act. To do this, the Sûreté du Québec will have an increased presence in key places with regard to the various sanitary measures in effect, according to the Québec government’s system of colour-designated COVID-19 alert zones.

Preventive patrols will be targeted in resort areas, outdoor public places, areas where food services are provided, and to prevent gatherings in private residences. The break period can lead to more traffic on recreational and tourist trails, the police will continue their operations to ensure the safety and respect of the regulations.

Citizens can find out about the various measures at any time on the Government of Québec website (www.quebec.ca).  The website includes useful information on the requirements imposed on travelers and COVID-19.

The Sûreté du Québec encourages citizens to continue their efforts in fighting the spread of COVID-19, by respecting the guidelines in place.
