The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating thefts of snowmobiles, as well as attempted thefts that occurred on private properties in the region.

These incidents have occurred overnight while the snowmobiles were left outside next to residences.

Anyone who has information on these matters, please contact the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment at 613-632-2729 or 1-888-310-1122.

Owners are reminded to be particularly vigilant when storing or leaving their snowmobile outside to reduce the risk of being victimized. Extra precautionary measures should be considered such as securing the equipment and of course, leaving snowmobiles in well-lit area, preferably visible to neighbours. If possible, use a locked garage or compound to park your snowmobile overnight. The use of surveillance cameras installed in proximity could assist police in a theft investigation.

Remember, if you see something, say something.  If you see suspicious behaviour or people roaming the area, call the Hawkesbury OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
