East Hawkesbury’s $5,834,918 municipal budget for 2021 includes $1,988,279 in capital project expenses.

According to a list provided by township Clerk-Treasurer Luc Lalonde, the project of greatest value is $1,291,279 for storm sewer replacement work in St-Eugène.  However, that project is conditional on the approval of a government grant to cover part of the cost.

The township is planning to purchase a new rescue truck and equipment for the fire department in 2021 at a cost of $272,000.

Plans are being made to repave the streets in Chute-à-Blondeau at a cost of $190,000.  However, that depends upon the success of the township’s application to bring natural gas service to Chute-à-Blondeau and Front Road is approved.

The Centre d’Action in Ste-Anne-de Prescott is due for a new heating system and insulation for the building this year.  The cost of those items is approximately $130,000.

East Hawkesbury is also planning to replace municipal pickup trucks.  The 2021 budget includes $65,000 for those purchases.
