January 6, 2021

Allow me to start by wishing you a Happy New Year 2021. I collectively wish us health, prosperity and the end of this pandemic.

Unfortunately, we are starting the year again in lockdown. I know this is not how we wanted to begin 2021. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cases are on the rise everywhere and we need to go the extra mile to avoid hospital congestion. We know what we have to do; stay home, only go out for essential travel, wear masks indoors, and maintain physical distancing.

I also ask citizens to be careful when practicing winter activities. I know the nice weather makes us want to enjoy the different trails, rinks, and sledding hills.

However, please ensure you are at least two metres away from anyone who is not part of your family bubble.

In conclusion, I would like to praise the resilience of our local businesspeople. The past year has been tough for them, and it is starting just as difficult. I encourage citizens to continue shopping locally. Some stores even offer curbside pick-up and delivery. If you have not already, check out our Business Directory on our website’s homepage www.clarence-rockland.com. You will find a lot of useful information regarding the delivery of services by our businesspeople.

Sincerely,

Guy Desjardins
