COVID-19 case numbers have continued to slowly increase among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil in recent days.  As of Tuesday, December 22, there were 23 active cases across Argenteuil, after several days of cases only numbering in the teens.   As of December 22, there had been 314 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Argenteuil, According to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Argenteuil had increased to 12 as of December 22, after remaining at 11 for several weeks.  As of Tuesday, there had been 350 deaths due to COVID-19 across the Laurentides region of Québec.

Schools and long-term care

According to a list provided by the Québec education ministry, an unspecified number of COVID-19 cases were listed by the Québec government at the following schools across the MRC d’Argenteuil as of December 21.

Laurentian Regional High School in Lachute

As of December 22, no cases of COVID-19 were listed at long-term care facilities or retirement residences across the MRC d`Argenteuil.

Red zone in effect

All of Québec, except for the far northern regions, is currently a red zone under the province`s COVID-19 measures.  This means that all indoor and outdoor social gatherings are prohibited and travel between regions is discouraged until January 10.  Exceptions are made for people who live alone or who must travel to another region for work.

According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ, there were 2,183 new active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of Monday, December 21, which contributed to the 18,809 total cases that were active across Québec that day.   There were 181,276 cumulative cases and 154,673 resolved cases as of Monday.

There were 1,055 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of December 21, and 137 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 7,794 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of December 21.
