Laurentides health authority preparing for COVID-19 vaccination program

The CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority has announced that its COVID-19 vaccination program will start shortly.  Preparing the vaccination effort is the priority of the organization from now on and for the next month.

CISSS teams are currently very active in preparations for the campaign, for the receipt of vaccines.  The exact delivery date of will be confirmed shortly.

Caroline Chantal will act as director responsible for the COVID-19 immunization file.  She is collaborating with public health medical consultant Dr. Danielle Auger and a strategic committee made, which will  analyze, on a regular basis, the various issues surrounding the vaccination campaign to ensure functions properly.

“With all the challenges generated by COVID-19, stopping the spread of the virus is a priority for us and the vaccination campaign is our organizational priority,” said CISSS des Laurentides President and CEO  Rosemonde Landry.

According to Landry, vaccination should start by the end of December.   However, doses will be limited initially and distributed gradually, to priority groups identified by the Québec immunization committee.  Those priority groups are vulnerable people with limited autonomy who reside in long-term care or group facilities, health care workers, and social services workers.

Even though vaccines will be available shortly, citizens are being reminded not to relax when it comes to respecting health measures.

“Continue your efforts to protect yourself and the most vulnerable!” said Landry.
