On December 4, Argenteuil Member of the Québec National Assembly Agnès Grondin, announced on behalf of Culture and Communications Minister Nathalie Roy and Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister  Andrée Laforest, financial assistance of $ 420,000 which will be devoted to developing knowledge, enhancement, and protection of heritage buildings owned by the MRC d´Argenteuil.

The funds are an addition to the $296,800 announced in November 2019 for roof restoration work at the MRC’s historic office building on rue Grace in Lachute, and the former Lachute railroad station, which it also uses for administrative space.  From the new funding, $200,000 is being allocated to work on the main office building while $220,000 will go to work on the historic station building.

The amount announced on Friday by the Québec government is part of the $ 51.6 million for the Municipal Support Program for public buildings.  The program aims to equip assist municipalities with the preservation of heritage buildings and contribute to Québec’s economic recovery.
