According to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority, as of October 23, there were 32 active cases of COVID-19 among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil.  The cumulative case count for Argenteuil had reached 201.

Among the MRC d’Argenteuil’s nine municipalities as of October 22, there were 15 active cases of COVID-19 Lachute, six in Brownsburg-Chatham, six in St-André d’Argenteuil, five in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, one to four cases in the village of Grenville, and zero cases in Gore, Harrington, Mille-Isles, and Wentworth.

There had been 10 deaths due to COVID-19 in the MRC d’Argenteuil as of October 23.

Three schools still have cases

Three schools across the MRC d’Argenteuil continued to have cases of COVID-19, as of October 23, according to the Québec Ministère de l’education.  The schools are École Polyvalente Lavigne in Lachute, Laurentian Regional High School in Lachute, and Seminaire du Sacré-Coeur in Pointe-au-chêne/Grenville-sur-la-Rouge.

The outbreak at Seminaire du Sacré-Coeur began on September 30.  The school closed on October 1 and students learned remotely until resuming in-person classes on October 19.

There were no outbreaks of COVID-19 at long-term care facilities, other group living institutions, or hospitals across the MRC d’Argenteuil as of October 23.  The number of COVID-19 deaths in Argenteuil as of October 19 remained unchanged at nine.

Regional alert levels

The MRC d’Argenteuil remained as an orange zone under Québec’s regional COVID-19 alert system as of October 23.  To the east, the neighbouring MRC’s of Deux-Montagnes, Mirabel, and Rivière-du-Nord are red zones.  To the north, the MRC des Pays d’en Haut is an orange zone.  To the west, The MRC de Papineau is an orange zone, but the city of Gatineau and surrounding MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais are red zones.   The Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC south of the Ottawa River is also a red zone.

Residents of red zones should not be travelling outside their zone to communities within orange zones or to communities in Eastern Ontario.

Across Québec

There were 15,434 active cases of COVID-19 across Québec as of October 22.  According to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), there were 98,226 cumulative cases and 82,792 resolved cases.

There were 540 COVID-19 patients in hospital across Québec as of October 22, and 99 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 6,106 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 across Québec as of October 19.
