The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) released a short statement at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 17 confirming that there has been one death as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak at the Prescott and Russell Residence in Hawkesbury.
Earlier in the week, 35 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed at the facility and by Friday, October 16, four of those cases had been resolved.
As of October 17, there have now been 13 deaths due to COVID-19 across the jurisdiction of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit. The previous 12 deaths had been from a previous COVID-19 outbreak at a long-term care facility in Plantagenet in May.
