The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized illegal drugs in Hawkesbury.

On July 22, 2020, as part of an ongoing investigation, members of the Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed search warrants at apartments on Main Street East and Laurier Street.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as Canadian currency and other items associated with drug trafficking. Two people were arrested.

A 56-year-old Hawkesbury man has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, under section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

A 55-year-old Champlain Township woman has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance under section 4(1) of the CDSA.

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on September 16, 2020.

The investigation is continuing.
