According to the CISSS des Laurentides regional health authority, on Monday, June 8, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far among residents of the MRC d’Argenteuil increased to 68 from 67 cases on June 7.

The total number of deaths in Argenteuil due to COVID-19 as of June 8 remained at five.

The CISSS des Laurentides region includes seven other MRC’s, and the municipality of Mirabel.  Throughout the Laurentides region on June 8 there were 3,098 confirmed cases of COVID-19.  However, the CISSS des Laurentides was listing 2,028 cases as resolved, which means that 65.5 per cent of the 3,098 Laurentides cases are now resolved and there are 1,070 active cases across the region.

Across the Laurentides region on Monday, there were 225 COVID-19 patients in hospital and 31 of those patients were in intensive care.  As of June 8, there had been 151 COVID-19 deaths in the Laurentides region.

According to the CISSS des Laurentides, COVID-19 is, or has been present in all nine municipalities within the MRC d’Argenteuil.  There are less than five cases in each municipality except for Lachute, which has had 31 cases.  Brownsburg-Chatham has had 12 cases, and there have been nine cases in St-André-d’Argenteuil.

No outbreaks of COVID-19 at long-term care facilities or other institutional living facilities in the MRC d’Argenteuil were listed by the CISSS des Laurentides as of June 8.

Testing totals from Lachute

From May 25 to 28, the CISSS des Laurentides operated a mobile COVID-19 testing and assessment centre in the parking lot of the Kevin Lowe/Pierre Pagé Arena in Lachute.  According to CISSS des Laurentides Director of Public Health, Dr. Éric Goyer, approximately 300 people were tested during the three days the mobile facility was open.  Goyer said that any future testing facility in Lachute will depend on the caseload in the area and risk to the local population.

Across Québec

As of Monday June 8, there had been 53,047 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across Québec.  That was an increase of 0.4 per cent from 52,849 cases on June 7.  However, the Institut national de santé pàlique du Québec (INSPQ) reported on June 7 that 18,994 cases of COVID-19 in Québec were resolved, which means that 35.8 per cent of the 53,047 cases were resolved and that 34,135 cases remained active.

As of June 8, 979 COVID-19 patients in Québec were in hospital, and 121 of those patients were in intensive care.

There had been 4,984 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 throughout Québec as of June 8.  That was a 0.1 per cent increase from 4,978 COVID-19 deaths on June 7.
