The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized illegal drugs in Hawkesbury.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on May 22, 2020, members of the Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at an apartment on James Street.
Police seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, cocaine and cannabis resin, as well as Canadian currency, cell phones and other items associated with drug trafficking.
A 58-year-old Hawkesbury man has been charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – Criminal Code sec. 354(1)(a)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act sec. 5(2)
- Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling – Cannabis Act sec. 10(2)
- Possess unmarked cigarettes – Tobacco Tax Act sec. 29(2)
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on September 9, 2020.
