The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized weapons and illegal drugs in Hawkesbury.

On April 9, 2020 members of the Street Crime Unit, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Hawkesbury OPP Detachment members executed a search warrant at a home on Main Street West.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected Methamphetamine and Percocet tablets, a quantity of suspected cocaine, a loaded rifle and magazine, an air soft rifle and over $2000 in Canadian currency.

A 50-year-old Hawkesbury woman and a 21-year-old Grenville-sur-la-Rouge resident are each charged with:

  • Careless storage of a firearm – Criminal Code (CC) sec. 86(1) – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – CC sec. 91(1)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – sec. 354(1)(a)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) – sec. 5(2) – two counts

The accused have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on August 8, 2020.
