Fatality from fire in Hawkesbury

A fire in Hawkesbury on Thursday morning claimed a man’s life.

At approximately 9 a.m. on February 20 the Hawkesbury Fire Department, the Prescott-Russell Paramedic Service, and the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a fire at a residence on Regent Street.

After the fire was extinguished, the deceased man was found inside the home and identified as 73 year-old Leo Leduc of Hawkesbury.

The Ontario Fire Marshalls Office (OFM), the Office of the Coroner, and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FISU) have been notified. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The intersection of Regent and Hamilton Streets was closed on Thursday while the OFM and OPP investigated.
