Hawkesbury OPP investigating death and residential fire

On February 11, 2020 shortly before 11:00 a.m. members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to assist court officials at a residence on Devista Boulevard in Alfred and Plantagenet Township.

A male inside refused to exit the residence. A short time later, officers observed a fire inside the residence. After the fire was extinguished, a male was located deceased inside the home.

The OPP has notified the Province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
