Vankleek Hill resident James Clarke was among the honored racers at the Cornwall Motor Speedway 50th banquet held last Saturday evening. Clarke, 29 years old, made his debuts as a Mini-Stock racer last May when he took his #2x Acura to the Cornwall Motor Speedway quarter mile clay oval. Let’s read what James Clarke declared to The Review about his passion for racing.
“I can’t describe what these awards mean to me, we started out the year just hoping to get on the track and finish races, just to get a feel for the sport and build some experience. But, we soon found out that we had a competitive car and myself as a driver I felt really confident behind the wheel, so we set a goal to achieve Rookie of the Year, it was challenging because there were six other very competitive rookies all going for the same thing. All through the 2019 season we managed to run a strong program and come out on top! Winning this award is a true honor to my team and I, we had one chance to win it and we managed to take the Mini-Stock Rookie of the Year trophy home, as well as 3rd place in the same championship! I feel my first year was a great success, and with everything I’ve learned this past year, we’re hoping to come into 2020 full throttle and win our first Cornwall Motor Speedway Mini-Stock championship.”
