Brownsburg-Chatham residents no longer must follow a long detour to access a local road.

Through traffic Montée Clark between Chemin Staynerville Ouest and Chemin de la Carrière had been impossible since the spring of 2019 due to the failure of a bridge on the road.

At the end of November, the town installed a temporary bridge on the road at a cost of $190,000.  The Québec government is covering 66 per cent of the cost.

The town is planning build a permanent structure, but the cost is not yet known, according to Director-General Hervé Rivet.  He said that engineering staff with the MRC d’Argenteuil will be doing study work for the town on the new crossing.
