This holiday season, make a difference for the people of the Argenteuil MRC living with cancer

Lachute, decembre 9, 2020 – The holiday season ushers in office parties and celebrations with family and friends. It is also a moment that lends itself to reflection and to well-wishing. As per our tradition, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) will take this opportunity to wish you all peace, love and most importantly, health. In 2019, more than 55,000 Quebecers found out that they have cancer. These people, as well as their loved ones, will therefore boldly go into the New Year focused on hope.

For Christmas, it is possible for you to show your support and to encourage everyone who is living with cancer. By signing up to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of the MRC Argenteuil you can show the people with cancer that they are not alone. You will also have the power to influence the lives of those close to you, as well as your community. Take advantage of the get-togethers over the holidays to form a team with your co-workers, your loved ones and your friends.

The organization committee is also looking for volunteers to complete their team. We need motivated leaders to be responsible for; the luminaries, managing our “survivors” , volunteer-team development and the development of sponsors. . The strength of the Relay For Life resides in the way that it engages people and communities, so that they mobilize, in order to advance the cause of cancer. For all those who face this illness, the journey is long and sometimes challenging. Much like a Relay, one faces cancer day and night, at times alone, at times with a team, at times in silence, at times in the spirit of laughter and joy.

The Relay For Life is an inspiring event, which in 2020, will bring together, for a 20th year, 81 communities from all around Quebec. It shows the people we love that life is more than their diagnosis. Come join us on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Barron Park for the next Relay For Life at Lachute, which will give you an opportunity to celebrate the people with cancer, to give hope to those recovering from this illness, as well as to pay tribute to all those we have lost because of it.

Approximately 63% of people diagnosed with cancer will survive at least five years after their diagnosis, compared to 55% at the beginning of the 1990s. This unprecedented breakthrough would not have been possible without the incredible progress achieved in cancer research, focused on improving the diagnostic, the treatment and the care for people who are, or have been living with cancer. However, there is still so much to do, and we need your help. With the support of thousands of Quebecers that the CCS mobilizes, we are a force-for-life in the face of cancer.

Sign up today at relayforlife.ca and help us show that together, WE are bigger than cancer.
