La Baie Run aiming for 750 participants in 2020, donates $1,000 to township

Patrick Lalonde and Geneviève Thibodeau presented $1,000 to Champlain Township at the regular council meeting on December 10. The funds represented part of the proceeds of the 2019 Baie Run, which took place in L’Orignal earlier this year. These funds will be used to beautify parks in the township.

Lalonde and Thibodeau, who are a big part of the organizing team, say that next year’s event will take place on Saturday, July 25 and that most of the funds will be donated to the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH). The 2019 event had 75 local volunteers at work as 450 participants ran or walked the course in 40-degree Celsius weather, said Lalonde.

The 2019 event, which included three courses of different length, raised $15,675 for HGH. Lalonde says that organizers will be marketing the event in  nearby Montreal and Ottawa to attract more participants.
