Come to Dunvegan on December 7 and 8 for a trip back into Christmas past. The grounds of the Glengarry Pioneer Museum and Dunvegan Recreation Hall just down the road will be open, filled with local merchants and traditional handiwork, amid a festive Christmas setting.
At the Dunvegan Recreation Hall you can shop a Dickens-style market with vendors in 19th century period clothing. Vendors vary from woodworkers and a blacksmith to knitters and jewelry makers, natural wreaths and Christmas décor. There will be a chance to buy raffle tickets for door prizes, with all proceeds to benefit the Dunvegan Recreation Association.
Take a short walk down the street to the Glengarry Pioneer Museum where you can relax in a country setting, sitting by the bonfire drinking your free cup of hot chocolate, then take pictures on the porch of the Star Inn or in a sleigh.
Buy your Christmas tree at the museum provided by Glengarry Tree Farm, with a portion of each sale benefiting the museum.
On the porch of the main building you are sure to see pots of fresh greens, wreaths and swags that will catch your eye, then pop inside and see the vendors there. Woodworking, natural beauty products, plus the museum gift shop are available for more gift ideas. It’s a step back in time, with an eye on today.
Come to Dunvegan from 10-4 Saturday and 10-3 Sunday for your unique and festive shopping experience.
