A free conference on Youth Health and Wellness will take place at Laurentian Regional High School (Lachute) on November 2, 2019. The event is a collaborative effort by many community organizations and along with presentations on emotional regulation, mindfulness and autism, other activities include a painting workshop, drum circles, used book sale (with over 2000 books), a bake sale, BBQ hot dog lunch fundraiser (for the Argenteuil District Girl Guides) and an art exhibition.   Youth groups and health providers that service the Anglophone community will also have tables set up at lunch time.

The conference is spearheaded by Autism & Arts in the Laurentians (AAL), which will be bringing in renowned ASD specialists, Dr. Isabelle Henault (director of the Autism & Asperger Clinic of Montreal) for a presentation on “Autism/Aspergers & Healthy Sexuality” and Dr. Katie Cohene & Jade Lawsane (from the ASD Centre of Excellence), to speak on “Relationship-Based Approaches for Youth with Autism”.  These topics are rarely discussed and AAL is proud to offer these free presentations to the English Laurentian community for the first time.  Other speakers include Linda Aber (sponsored by the Laurentian Literacy Center) for a presentation on “Emotional Regulation & Tuning into Adolescence” and Josephine Piazza (Sponsored by 4 Korners Family Resource Center) who will speak about “Guided Family Mindfulness”.   A special art exhibition (Extinction Protest) by Benjamin Lachapelle, a 17 year old Laurentian artists living with autism, will also be on display during the event.

All are welcome but registration is highly recommended.  Complete conference details and registration can be found on-line at:  https://forms.gle/kenKihz4AJTrWa3u6    Doors open at 8:50 AM
