OPP investigate assault incident at an Alfred home

On Friday July 5, 2019, at approximately 9 p.m., members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault incident at a residence in Alfred, Ontario.

OPP officers and the Prescott-Russell Paramedic Service located a 28-year-old male in front of his residence, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital.

The investigation revealed that four people attended the victim’s residence, where two assaulted the victim and then fled the scene in a vehicle.

On Saturday July 6, 2019, the Hawkesbury and SD&G OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Cornwall Police Service, executed search warrants at two residences in Cornwall, Ontario, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

A 38-year-old man and a 51-year-old man, both of Cornwall, Ontario have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Aggravated Assault. The 38-year-old was also charged with Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

These accused will remain in custody until a scheduled court appearance.

A 27-year-old woman and a 49-year-old woman, both of Cornwall, have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

– Aggravated Assault

– Accessory after the fact to commit an offence

These accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal on August 7, 2019.
