TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests, and all abilities.  This summer, the Champlain Library will encourage kids to explore the stories and science of nature through adventure and play.  They will marvel at a growing seed, be awed by extreme weather, and wonder about our connection to each other and the earth that sustains us.

“This year, we decided to offer a fairy garden craft at our big kick off.” says Children’s Librarian Alicia Heinzle.  Fairy gardens make whimsical additions to outdoor space and they’re fun for the whole family to get in on the magic. On Saturday, June 22 from 10 to 12 families are invited to come to the Library to register for SRC and to make a fairy garden.   Every child who registers gets an activity pack and has the chance to win great prizes!  We are also launching a brand-new program called ‘Little Sprouts’ to teach kids about plants and gardening.

The library will also be holding a children’s book sale from Monday, June 17 to Saturday, June 22.  Why not build up your kid’s home library – who knows? They may find a new favourite read!

The Summer Reading Club runs from June 22 to Aug 14.  Registration and activities are free and you can participate in as many or as few activities as you like. If you are not a library member now is it the time to sign up! Call 613-678-2216 or check out the library’s Facebook page or website for more information and a schedule of events.
