During the week of March 25 through to March 31, 2019, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 364 calls for service. The calls for service included:

Male charged with assault

On March 25, 2019 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Des Pins Street in Nation Township, Ontario.

The investigation revealed that an altercation occurred between two adult males.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old male from Nation Township, Ontario was charged with:

• Assault CC 266;

• Causing a Disturbance CC 175(1)(a) and

• Being intoxicated in public place LLA 31(4)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on April 17, 2019.

Neighbour dispute leads to assault charge

On March 29, 2019 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a neighbour dispute on Albert Street in Rockland, Ontario.

The investigation revealed that an altercation occurred between two adult males.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old male from Rockland, Ontario was charged with:

• Assault CC 266

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on April 24, 2019.

Domestic assault

On March 30, 2019 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic dispute on Labonte Street in the City of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario.

The investigation revealed that an altercation occurred between a male and a female.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old male from the City of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario was charged with:

• Assault – Spousal CC 266 (Two counts);

• Assault with a Weapon – Spousal CC 267(a) (Two counts);

• Mischief – Domestic CC 430(4) and

• Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle another Person CC 246(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on April 17, 2019.

Two males charged for possession of illegal drugs

On March 31, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to suspicious person incident on Principale Street in Casselman, Ontario.

The investigation revealed that one of the two males was wanted by a previous warrant. Both males had in their possession a quantity of crystal meth and speed pills.

As a result of the investigation:

An 18-yearold Casselman was charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine CDSA 4(1) (Two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on May 1, 2019.

A 33-year-old Ottawa man was charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine CDSA 4(1) (Two counts);

• Fail to Comply with Probation Order CC 733.1(1) and

• Fail to Comply with Recognizance CC 145(3) (Three counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on April 1, 2019.
