The annual guignolée, or door-to-door food collection for the Vankleek Hill Food Bank, will take place on Wednesday, December 5, starting at 6 p.m. and ending at about 8 p.m. The Vankleek Hill Volunteer Firefighters will be going door-to-door to pick up food donations but there is always room for more volunteers. If you would like to help, please report to the Archie Hardy Hall at Knox Presbyterian Church for 6 p.m. to be assigned a collection route in Vankleek Hill.
Food is collected and dropped off at the Archie Hardy Hall, where volunteers will sort it and pack it into boxes in preparation for the Christmas Basket campaign, which takes place later in December.
If you would like to make a cash donation, you can do so by giving your money to the firefighters in an envelope, along with your mailing address. Donations of $10 or more mean that you will receive a charitable donation receipt. Cash or cheque donations are also accepted at The Review offices, at 76 Main Street East, any time of the year. Food donations are also accepted; there is a collection basket right inside the front door.
You are invited to donate non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, coffee, flour, oatmeal, etc. and volunteers say that toiletry items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, tissues, laundry detergent, etc. are always welcome.
