How long have you been a derby driver?
“I’m a rookie. This year’s my first try.”
Why do it?
“I’ve been wanting to try it out for years. Last year, I followed my boyfriend around and watched him in action and it made me want to try it out. I’ve been watching the derby ever since I was a kid.”
What are you looking forward to the most?
“I like challenging myself with different things. I’m looking forward to feeling that adrenaline rush.”
What scares you the most?
“The idea of getting hit real hard. I got a helmet and my boyfriend wants me to wear a neck brace.”
What will you be driving?
“I’ll be driving a Honda Civic. I’m keeping it compact and light.”
