There was good news for mayoralty candidate Jamie MacDonald on Friday, July 27. That was the deadline for people to register their intent as candidates and by the 2 p.m. deadline, MacDonald was acclaimed as the new North Glengarry mayor when no other candidates had registered for the race. Likewise, Jeff Manley was acclaimed as councillor for the Kenyon ward and Johanne Wensink was acclaimed as the councillor for Maxville ward.

Three candidates remain in the running for Deputy Mayor. Brian Caddell, Robert (Bob) Proulx and Carma Williams are each seeking this position.

Three candidates are also in the running for Councillor-At-Large. Jacques Massie, Louise Quenneville and Kevin van den Oetelaar are facing off against each other for this position on council.

Likewise, three candidates are running to be councillor of the Lochiel ward. Andrew Neil McCormick, Brenda Noble and Raymond Quesnel are the registered candidates for this position.

Michel Depratto and Naval Kumar Gupta are seeking the position of councillor for the ward of Alexandria.

Jonathan De Serres was acclaimed as the school trustee for the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’est ontarien. Ron Eamer  and Todd Lalonde were acclaimed as the school trustees for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.

Lise Benoit-Léger was acclaimed as school trustee for the Conseil des écoles publique de l’est de l’Ontario.

Three candidates are in the running to serve as school trustee for the Upper Canada District School Board. Jim Bancroft, John Danaher and Marshall Wilson are vying for this post.
