Times are changing, and as a charitable organization United Way Centraide SD&G has embraced a new direction of change – a direction of consistent evolving and growth.
Changing lives is United Way’s mission – to create a happy and healthy community for everyone. What would the community look like without United Way? Many essential programs assisting those who need it most would not exist or be drastically reduced without United Way support. Programs which feed the elderly, support youth to make the right choices or give a child the mentor they so desperately need could be lost. Donations are invested into changing lives and creating significant lasting impact throughout Cornwall and Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry (SDG).
United Way is a locally operated office – from fundraising activities to investment into the local community. All funds raised in SDG stay in SDG to help neighbours in need. As it is a small office of only 3 staff, United Way relies heavily on volunteers to keep fundraising efforts rolling. All decisions to allocate the funds received are made by a committee of volunteers and approved by a volunteer Board of Directors. United Way deals directly with its partner agencies and invests into programs and services that benefit local children, youth, individuals, families and the elderly.
