Mini-Jeux D’Argenteuil is back for its 13th consecutive year of promoting healthy active living and love of sport among the area’s youth.

This year’s edition will take place on Thursday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Polyvvalente Lavigne and Laurentian Regional High Schools. The event will be free, with participants required to register through one of the nine municipalities of the MRC d’Argenteuil.

Organized through partnership between the City of Lachute and Québec en Forme Argenteuil, Mini-Jeux D’Argenteuil provides children aged 6 to 12 with the opportunity to spend the day adopting an active lifestyle by taking part in all manner of sports and activities.

This year, participants will be dressed in red- the official colour of the 13th edition- and will have the opportunity to practice three different sports from a selection of fifteen activities. These activities include soccer, karate, flag football, ball hockey, gymnastics, tennis, basketball, kin ball, baseball, cheerleading, weight-lifting, mobile skiing, the Zumbatomic, and two new sports: cross-country and land paddle.

Séminaire du Sacré-Cœur student, Anne-Marie Gagnon, will act as spokesperson for this year’s event. Gagnon won the bronze medal in the hammer throw at the Jeux du Québec 2016.

The organizers encourage parents to participate in the event as well, offering outdoor yoga and a gardening workshop in the morning, followed by the option to join in their child’s selected activity in the afternoon.
