This year, L’Orignal’s Old Jail is celebrating 10 years of operation as a tourist destination. On Saturday, May 27, there will be free admission to the prison starting at 9 a.m. – for this first day of the season, visitors can look around the historic prison for free.

Also on Saturday, the Old Jail is hosting a “Spring Market” on between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. This new event will feature about 15 small businesses and home-based business, which will showcase their products at the Old Jail. Participating businesses include: Younique, Arbonne, Mary Kay, Tupper ware, Usana, Norwex, PartyLite, Young living, Epicure, Steeped Tea, Sweet Legs, Park Lane & Magnolia & Vines. There will also be local businesses present, including: Bloom Creations, Scrap en Masse, and Neverending Creations.

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. there will be inflatable games near the Old Jail, so children can have fun outside as well.

Saturday will also serve as the launch of L’Orignal-Longueuil Heritage new exhibition, “Window to the past,” which showcases the history of the village of L’Orignal from Seigneurie to village, and more.

Other activities planned for the 2017 season include the play La Dernière Pendaison, which is showing on Friday and Saturday for the first four weeks in June. Also planned are murder mystery nights, for groups of between 8 and 20 people. And, a new “Prison Break” escape game, where groups of up to eight people are challenged to solve puzzles and “escape” within 45 minutes.
