A group of organizations is collaborating to host forums about Fentanyl for local parents and students.

The forums are called “Fentanyl and Other Substances – Awareness and Prevention.” A press release from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) says the presentations will “provide parents and students with information on Fentanyl and opioids in general, as well as other types of drugs. The presentations will also provide parents with tips about how to talk to their teens about drugs and strategies they can use to keep their kids safe.”

The EOHU and local school boards have previously warned of the presence of the drug in the area.

Here is the schedule for the forums taking place in English:

The community agencies involved in the organization of the forums are the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien, the Upper Canada District School Board, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, the Town of Hawkesbury, the Hawkesbury General Hospital Mental Health and Addictions department, the Cornwall Community Hospital Addiction and Mental Health Centre, the Ontario Provincial Police for Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and Prescott-Russell, the City of Cornwall Police Services, Prescott-Russell Emergency Services, and Valoris.
