MP Yves St-Denis recently visited Carrière sawmill in the Industrial Park Aéroparc of Lachute. Carrière sawmill specializes in raw material for flooring manufacturers, furniture, and cabinets. The Spencer Group, founded in 1908, owns and operates two sawmills, Carrière and Les Bois Hunting Inc., established in the Eastern Townships. Spencer Group’s 150 employees make up 100 per cent of its shareholders. The Lachute sawmill currently has about 50 employees.
