Sucrerie du Ruban owners honored for fundraising efforts for sick kids
During Make a Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario’s annual masquerade gala, which was held on Saturday, November 19, Rejean and Joanne Cardinal of Sainte-Anne-de-Prescott were recognized for their fundraising efforts, which have spanned the past seven years.
The Cardinals host “Derick’s Pancake Day” each year at their sugar camp, the Sucrerie du Ruban. The event honours their son, Derick, who died in a tragic accident.
In the seven years that the Cardinals have been hosting this event, they have raised more than $102,000 for the Make a Wish Foundation. Don Dubois is involved in corporate fundraising for the event and he has helped the Cardinals raise more than $17,000 in the past four years. During this period, the event raised more than $62,000 in total.
Derick’s Pancake Day is held every year in mid-March. The exact date will be announced on Facebook.com/SucrerieDuRuban
