Residents of Prescott and Russell are invited to participate in Go Purple Day on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.October is Child Abuse Prevention Month. People are encouraged to wear purple clothing and accessories on this day to show support for the prevention of child abuse. Businesses are also encouraged to decorate their front door in purple. The purpose of Go Purple Day is to ensure that every child and youth has a right to safety, and to raise awareness of the importance of speaking out if that right is violated. To help spread awareness, purple “Break the Silence” shirts are available for $10 at the reception of the Valoris Service Center (411 Stanley Street) until October 19, 2016.
