Fresh strawberries coated in rich ice cream and homemade cake awaited visitors to the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds on Sunday. The delicious dessert was part of the annual Strawberry Social, which coincides with the Horse and Buggy Parade.

Vendors from the Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market supplied the strawberries and ice cream, which was paired with cake. They also helped to sell tickets and prepare for the event, which attracted more than 315 people this year.

Grade 11 students from Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) acted as servers and prepared the cakes for the Strawberry Social, which raised $500 towards their graduation celebration next year.

As they were eating their cake, spectators were able to watch the line classes that were held in the equestrian ring, following the parade.
