Learn to Build a Traditional Stone Wall

Join Scott Young & Dry Stone Canada for a stone wall building workshop at Gibbs Honey in Vankleek Hill.
Gibbs Honey is owned by Andrea and Russell Gibbs. They combine time-honoured tradition with modernity to produce premium, 100% raw honey and beeswax products—made only by their bees. The historic farm is located on 111 acres of pasture, forest and wildflower meadows. The property features a Victorian farmhouse and a well-preserved barn dating back to the late 1800’s. They are passionate about maintaining the original character of the farm and are excited about the opportunity to rebuild the stone wall at the front entrance of the property.
This dry stone workshop is designed for beginner level wallers. This is a new wall using stone from the property. The focus of the workshop will be on the application of proper structural principles of dry stone walling. Participants will be taught fundamental principles and techniques including bonding, batter, hearting and through stones.
