Champlain Winter Carnival

The Champlain Winter Carnival kicks off on Saturday, February 9th in L’Orignal at the L’Orignal Park this year with an ATOM C Hockey Game vs Parents at 10 a.m. and a family skate and old fashioned sliding from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m..  An outdoor rink was especially made for the Winter Carnival! There will also be treasure hunts and kids relay games followed by the Annual Firefighter Hockey Tournament and Barrel Jumping Competition begining at 1 p.m..  Lunch and snacks will be available on site.   Carnival goers can make their way to Vankleek Hill, at the Community Centre (36 Mill Street), for more fun activities in the afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. when the lobby bar in the Arena opens.  There will be kids crafts in the Reception Hall from 2 to 4 p.m., free INDOOR public skating DISCO style from 2 to 5 p.m. and a 4 on 4 Family Fun Hockey Tournament on the outside rink in Mill Street Park (36 Mills Street) from 2 to 5 p.m..  To register for the 4 on 4, please contact [email protected]. Hockey is not your thing, we will be hosting our Second Annual Loud & Dirty LumberJack Competition, all in the Mill Street Park.  Single and double log cuts, axes throwing and more….to register for this email [email protected].

The fun continues from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a Magic Show by David Jans (free admission) in the Reception Hall and then a FREE Junior C Cougars Game against St-Isidore starting at 7 p.m. with NEW intermission games and prizes that will surely keep you on your toes. The Cougars Den Canteen will be open, so come and try their famous POUTINES! Come support the Cougars!

On  Saturday, February 10th from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., join us at the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds, 92 Main Street West for the 9th Annual Vintage Snowmobile Ride.  Breakfast will be served from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by the snowmobile ride at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m..  No trail pass required for this ride!

The Champlain Winter Carnival is also holding a colouring and design contest and a snow sculpture contest.  Participants for the snow sculpture contest must register by sending an email to [email protected].  Sculptures must be ready before February 1st!

Winners of the colouring & design contest and of the snow sculpture contest will be announced during the Junior C Cougars Game on Saturday, February 9th.
